Easily recognized by her bright red hair, Malon is often percieved as one of the most cheerful characters of the Legend of Zelda series. When she is introduced, she is generally found with a smile on her face.
She is first introduced in
Ocarina of Time as the daughter of Talon, the owner of Lon Lon Ranch. And since then she has been included in four Legend of Zelda games. Ocarina of Time is where most of her character development takes place (and as such, the focus of this website is on OoT's Malon.)
Her role in Ocarina of Time is small compared to the other girls, however she provides Link with a great convience. She is first introduced as a child, about Link's age, in Hyrule Castle Market Town.
You find her standing in front of the fountain, singing. She gives you an egg, which hatches and you use the
cucco to wake Talon, Malon's father. Link meets Malon again at her home,
Lon Lon Ranch. She teaches him
Epona's Song, a song composed by her mother.

Link later uses this song to free Epona and save the ranch from Ingo's tyranny.
From then on, Malon provides Link with an interesting mini game. An obstacle course composed of fences used as hurdles. If Link can beat the current record of 50 seconds (held by Malon), he will be awarded with a cow and free Lon Lon Milk for the rest of the game.
