This is the 'Shippings' page where DitR's main shippings are posted, and why! Diamond in the Rough isn't your typical pairing website where Zelda/Link is a main focus, so why is that? This website and its forums were created for the sole purpose of the fans that love and enjoy alternate pairings. The majority of fans relate the most to 'Zelink' and it isn't too hard to try and find support for such a pairing on the internet. The following pairings are what DitR supports and are considered "alternate" compared to the norm: Malon/Link - Perhaps the second strongest following after Zelda/Link in the fandom. Started with the release of Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 in 1998 when Malon was introduced. Plenty of fans of this pairing still exist today even though Malon as a character has not been seen in a Zelda game since the Gameboy Advance release of The Minish Cap. The term used for this shipping is 'Malink'. Marin/Link - Not as strong as the Malon/Link following due to Ocarina of Time's success but many fans of Marin are present. Some Marin fans believe that due to her close resemblance to the Princess Zelda that Marin represents the "dream version" of Zelda in Link's mind. The term used for this shipping is typically 'Malink' as well but 'Marlink' has also been used by fans. Ilia/Link - A very new pairing fandom to the Zelda community it is best represented on deviantART.com as well as at Ordonship, an Ilia/Link fanlisting/shrine. Rather small in size of supporters and happens to receive a lot of flames akin to when the Malon/Link shippers first appeared. This shipping has no fan official term that has truly stuck with the pairing yet, but Ilink has sometimes been used by fans as well as LiLia. Midna/Link - Actually quite popular! Midna/Link is arguably the pairing growing the fastest at this point in the fandom. Plenty of fanfiction, fanart and clubs have been made for Midna alone along with supporting the Midna/Link pairing. Part of this can be attributed to the fact that Twilight Princess is relatively a new game and the latest on Nintendo's current console the Wii (as well as the Gamecube). This shipping also has no fan official term stuck to it quite yet but Milink is what some fans would use to describe it. Want to find other websites for these characters?
